CEP Short-Term Appointments (CSA)

The CEP Short-Term Appointment (CSA) Program is a unique program that allows JSC mentors to request students with a unique skill set for specified technical projects.  Unlike other JSC internship programs, CSA students are requested internally and directly by JSC Organizations.  Requesting Organizations assign an aerospace technical project and mentor.  Students work onsite 15-weeks during the spring and fall semesters or 10-weeks during the summer.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Possess United States citizenship.
  • Be enrolled full-time at their respective high school, college, or university.
  • Possess a 3.0 grade point average.
  • Provide current transcripts.
  • Be at least 16 years of age.
  • Be available to work 10 or 15 weeks onsite at JSC, according to length of internship.

Students should be cognizant that receipt of the CSA stipend award payment may disqualify them from certain scholarships, internships, or grants.

Additional Requirements

  • College and University students must be pursuing degrees that align with career-related hands-on work that directly benefits NASA/JSC.
  • Graduate and Post-Graduate students must be enrolled in a graduate degree program.
  • CEP students participating in the CEP for more than one year are not eligible to participate in a CEP Short-term Assignment.

Students are required to confirm eligibility requirements and JSC approval with USRA prior to applying to the CSA program.
