Career Exploration Program (CEP) - High School Students
Students work at JSC part-time during their senior year in high school and the summer following graduation. The students provide much needed support to JSC. They learn valuable technical and office skills while being exposed to positive role models and work ethics. Students work for a one-year appointment period and earn an hourly wage at a GS1. USRA encourages CEP-High School students to apply for CEP-College positions at the completion of their assignment to engage students in the pipeline and continue NASA workforce development.
Eligibility Requirements
- Possess United States citizenship.
- Be enrolled in a high school Cooperative Education program.
- Pass all classes.
- Be at least 16 year of age.
- Reside within commuting distance of JSC.
- Type and perform routine clerical tasks.
- Be available to work 20 hours per week at JSC.
Application Process
High school seniors interested in participating in the Program should apply through their high school Career and Technology Education (CATE) teachers. Students must also complete an online application. Recruitment activities commence during the spring semester to assure selection of the most highly qualified students. The program targets a diverse group of high school seniors who will be selected during their junior year of high school prior to school dismissal in May of each academic year. A limited number of juniors may be selected during their sophomore year. Selected juniors must reapply through the competitive process to be considered for a consecutive appointment their senior year.
