Aguirre receives NASA “Stellar Award”
Career Exploration Program (CEP) college student Abigail Aguirre received the NASA Stellar Award for her work in the Institutional Procurement Office at Johnson Space Center. Nominations for the Stellar Award are reviewed by a committee of distinguished scientists, engineers, managers, and academicians who select winners based on whose accomplishments hold the greatest promise for furthering future activities in space.
Aguirre, a three-year veteran of USRA’s CEP program, was recognized for her outstanding contributions to the JSC Engineering Directorate, specifically in her handling of a time sensitive, critical purchase order for Altium Designer Software Maintenance. Aguirre’s recognition of the expiring software and expedient work in purchasing the new license not only saved the institution twice the cost, but prompted the organization to examine and improve its renewal processes.
Aguirre is an Accounting student at Houston’s San Jacinto College. After college she hopes to continue her career in procurement within the space industry.
